Bicol cops seize P10.3-M illegal drugs in weeklong ops

LEGAZPI CITY --- The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) confiscated PHP10.3 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 37 suspects during a series of operations from Jan. 13 to 19.
In a report on Monday, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said 29 operations were conducted across the region, resulting in the seizure of 1,524.73 grams of shabu and 13.38 grams of marijuana.
Albay province recorded the highest amount of seized illegal drugs at PHP5.18 million; followed by Camarines Sur with PHP4.12 million; and Camarines Norte, PHP734,400.
Masbate and Sorsogon reported seizures amounting to PHP170,204 and PHP149,600, respectively, while there were no illegal drug-related operations conducted in Catanduanes.
Dizon lauded the tireless efforts of the operatives and the teams involved in these successful operations.
He also acknowledged the valuable support of the community in aiding the Philippine National Police (PNP) in its fight against illegal drugs.
“The success of these operations is proof of the hard work and dedication of our personnel, as well as the trust and cooperation of our communities. However, this is just the beginning. We remain committed to maintaining this momentum, ensuring that we leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of a drug-free Bicol,” he added. (PNA)
