Bicol gets more Covid-19 vax

Another batch of Covid-19 vaccines consisting of 67,200 vials of the CoronaVac to inoculate more medical frontliners, arrived in Legazpi City before noon on Friday, Apr. 30, the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol said.


The fifth batch of vaccines, manufactured by the Beijing-based Sinovac Biotech Ltd., are packed in 56 boxes containing 1,200 vials per box, arrived at the Legazpi Domestic Airport aboard a Cebu Pacific commercial flight from Manila at 11:00 AM.


The vaccines were immediately brought to the DOH storage facility in Legazpi City for inventory and distribution to the six Bicol provinces, DOH Bicol public affairs chief Noemi Bron said.


DOH data show that the new arrival brings to 129,700 the vaccines that were allocated to Bicol region for the first to third level priority


As of the latest count aside from the new arrival (67,200 vials), the region earlier received 62,500 vaccines from Sinovac single-dose vials (48,000) and 22,000 doses of the British manufactured AstraZeneca.


The vaccines are intended for the first and second doses of medical frontliners: Albay-12,762, Camarines Norte-6,110, Camarines Sur-16,714, Catanduanes-3,990, Masbate-11,098, and Sorsogon with 11,826.
