Bicol workers get P55 increase in daily wage

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) V issued Wage Order No. RBV-20 granting a P55 wage increase for workers in the Bicol region in two tranches, P35 upon the effectivity of the wage order and another P20 on Dec. 1, 2022 bringing the new minimum wage rate in region to P365 for all sectors.


The last wage order in the region took effect on Sept. 21, 2018.


Also, the RTWPB issued Wage Order No. RBV-DW-02 granting a monthly increase of P1,000 for chartered cities and first-class municipalities and P1,500 for other municipalities, bringing the new monthly wage rate for domestic workers in the region to P4,000.


The new wage order is expected to protect around 94,042 domestic workers. The previous wage order for domestic workers took effect on June 2, 2017.


The Board, comprised of representatives from the government, management, and labor sectors, conducted public hearings on April 26, 2022 in Naga City, Camarines Sur and on April 28, 2022 in Legazpi City, Albay.


The new wage orders will be submitted to the Commission for review and shall take effect 15 days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
