Bishop Baylon lauds Legazpi’s‘Gift of Life’ program

LEGAZPI CITY --- Bishop Joel Z. Baylon of the Diocese of Legazpi has lauded the City Government of Legazpi’s “Gift of Life” program, which provides cash assistance to pregnant mothers to help cover childbirth-related expenses.

Baylon said the city government’s initiative would significantly help mothers meet their immediate needs, particularly those from underprivileged families, while also supporting the welfare of their new-born children.

The bishop made the statement while in the city for a press conference on the proposed commemorative stamp marking the Diocese of Legazpi’s 75th anniversary, or Jubilee Year. The Legazpi City Government has committed to shoulder the cost of producing the commemorative stamp.

Under the “Gift of Life” program, Mayor Alfredo S. Garbin Jr.’s chief of staff, Atty. Rodolfo Ismail, said that the initiative reflects the city government’s commitment to promoting maternal and child health care.

Ismail, a nurse by profession, said the financial assistance would help address the immediate needs of expectant mothers, particularly their nutritional requirements and those of their newborns.
