BMC sets up party-theme vax site for children

By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay

The Bicol Medical Center (BMC) vaccination team has set up a party-themed venue at the hospital’s auditorium for the vaccination of children ages 5 to 11 years old during Monday’s (Feb. 14) roll out.

The lively vibes with all the balloons arranged in a festive look were complemented by the courteous healthcare personnel wearing costumes worn by actors and actresses who starred in famous children movies who welcomed the kids.

A friendly mascot and clown completed the “birthday-party” scenario that entertained the kids at the waiting area.

BMC chief Dr. Ronnie Gigantone III led the opening of the pediatric vaccination launching. He was accompanied by Dr. Joey Rañola III (Infectious Disease Specialist), Dr. Mary Jane Uy (Chief of Medical and Professional Staff II) and Dr. Myla Baturiano (BMC Department of Pediatrics chief).

A total of 420 children were inoculated on Feb. 14-15.

Some 800 Pfizer doses specifically formulated for pediatric use were prepared for the 3-day “Resbakuna Kids” activity.

“This amount of vaccine supply was made possible with the help of the Department of Health-Bicol, Naga City Government, and Provincial Health Office of Camarines Sur. They all partnered with BMC after the hospital received more sign-ups than expected,” BMC Information Officer Mylce Competente said. (With reports from KPilapil/MCompetente/PIA5/Camarines Sur)
