LEGAZPI CITY --- A 23-year-old fisherman succumbed to death after the dynamite he placed inside a Tanduay bottle that he is about to be thrown into the sea suddenly exploded, reports from Police Regional Office 5 said.

Police Lt. Col. Maria Luisa “Malu” Calubaquib, PNP regional spokesperson, said that the incident took place on the seawaters off Barangay Nagarao in Placer, Masbate, more or less 10 kilometers away from Placer municipal police station.

Calubaquib identified the victim as Jake Gelboina Quiñones, single, and a resident of Barangay Nagarao, in Placer, Masbate.

Report said that Jake was fishing along with his father Archiebal Acuesta Quiñones, 44, and his two other siblings King Jake Quiñones, 15, and Jemar, 17.

Archiebal and King Jake were both injured while Jemar was unharmed.
