Brgy kagawad busted with P163K shabu

GARCHITORENA, Camarines Sur --- A barangay councilor was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by joint operatives of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) under the supervision of Police Col Virgilio O. Olalia Jr., Provincial Director of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO), on the evening of November 4, 2025 in Barangay 3, Garchitorena, Camarines Sur.

The suspect, known by the alias “Dondon”, 47 years old, married, and an incumbent barangay kagawad of Garchitorena, is listed as a high-value individual (HVI) in the provincial drug watchlist.

Police reported that the buy-bust took place at around 8:08 p.m. along Mabini Street, Zone 3, after a police operative who acted as a poseur-buyer was able to purchase one (1) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing about five (5) grams of suspected shabu in exchange for P12,000 in boodle money, which included a genuine P500 bill (serial number CE9742292) as marked money.

During the body search, operatives recovered the buy-bust money and two (2) additional heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu from the suspect’s right back pocket. The seized drugs had an aggregate weight of approximately 19 grams with an estimated street value of P163,200.00.

The markings and inventory of the confiscated items were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and required insulating witnesses.

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and brought to the Garchitorena Municipal Police Station for documentation and detention. Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared against him.

Police said the operation forms part of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) under the Focused Agenda of PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., which underscores the strategic direction of the PNP toward a drug-free, peaceful, and safer nation.

PBGEN Nestor C. Babagay Jr., Regional Director of PRO5, commended the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office for its consistent accomplishments in the anti-drug campaign. He likewise praised PD Olalia for motivating chiefs of police under his command to sustain their relentless efforts against illegal drugs, which led to this latest success.
