AS we create a more caring and supportive community where everyone feels valued and understood, we give thanks to God for His countless blessings and the humbling opportunity to be beacons of hope to those in need.

On March 13, 2025, within the first week of Lent, a remarkable outreach event unfolded at the Tinangis Jail and Penal Farm, Pili Camarines Sur, where 840 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were given hope and encouragement under the able and compassionate leadership of Ret. LtCol Rodel L. Pesquela, the Provincial Warden. This mission extended to the children at risk (CAR) and children in conflict with the law (CICL) at the Naga City Children’s Home (NCCH), Pacol, Naga City under the City Social Welfare Development Office headed by Ms. Anabel Vargas.

The outreach was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Maronites on Mission Australia, led by George Nasr, the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) Naga City Chapter, headed by Mr. Jofren Bacero, and supported by PNA Governor Region 5, Dr. Stanley O. Dy. It was further strengthened by Maximilian Ministry - Archdiocese of Caceres, with Rev. Fr. Jayson Gaite as Spiritual Director, represented by Engr. William Menes and Mrs. France Muñoz Arcayera of Adonais Love. Various academic institutions, including Universidad De Santa Isabel-CHS - represented by Ms Sheryll De Lima Torallo and Naga College Foundation Inc- CHS under the leadership of Ms Emmaloi Alvarez Ilano contributed through their community extension services. Simultaneous outreach was conducted through a medical mission, “Project SALUD: Lakbay Serbisyo para sa Kalusugan at Mas Malusog na Komunidad,” at Barangay Santa Teresita, Canaman, Camarines Sur. PNSA student leaders, nursing students, and clinical instructors actively participated in providing healthcare services and compassionate care.

A simple yet meaningful program was held, starting off with Holy Spirit song sung by the Tinangis Choir led by the Administrative Chief PG 1 Lucila Hebrio. During the program, key leaders, including Mr. George Nasr of MOM-Australia, Mr. Emmanuel B. Braga-Assistant Provincial Warden, PNA Region 5 Governor, PNA Naga City Chapter President and the Maximilian Ministry Chairman Engr Menes delivered brief yet impactful messages, inspiring and encouraging all present with their words of wisdom and support.

Hygiene kits, books, magazines, and simple snacks were distributed to PDLs, while the children at the NC Children’s Home were overjoyed by the presence of visitors. Words of encouragement, hope, and support uplifted their spirits. Singing and dancing with social workers, volunteers, Cis and nursing students brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

The generosity of our benefactors was deeply felt through the Maronites on Mission visitors’ pledge of a children’s library, school supplies from Dr. Dy, and a cash donation from Mrs. Ava Marie Claro. The innocence and joy of the children reminded us of Jesus’ love for them, as we are called to emulate their faith to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

On March 16, 2025, the Philippine Association of Nursing Authors for Community, Clinical, Education, and Administration (PANACCEA) held its 3rd International Research Colloquium at the National University-MOA Campus. PANACCEA, which began three years ago, was founded on the vision of advancing nursing science through research and education. This event reflected the Gospel reading for the second Sunday of Lent—the Transfiguration of Jesus. Just as Christ revealed His divine glory before Peter, James, and John, PANACCEA has worked tirelessly to uplift the nursing profession and serve communities in need.

The organization’s mission is grounded in three key goals: Firstly, Textbook Development - Writing textbooks authored by Filipino nurses for Filipino nursing students, ensuring a tangible learning resource for lifelong education. Secondly, Advancing Nursing Education - Supporting fellow nurses in obtaining Master’s and Doctorate degrees to enhance leadership in case management and healthcare. Thirdly, Access to the Grassroots - Extending advanced nursing education to as many Filipino nurses as possible and promoting active participation through speaker engagements and community service.

The NCF-CHS family proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of Dr. Stanley O. Dy, Ms. Janet Serapio de la Cruz, and Mr. John John Bechayda, recognized by PANACCEA as outstanding nursing textbook authors. Furthermore, Dr. Henry Calisura’s award-winning research on competency enhancement for nurse educators is a remarkable achievement and testament to his excellence, dedication, and scholarly rigor!

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Grant us the gifts that flow from Your love—wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord so that we may discern and fulfill Your divine will for our lives. Help us recognize and embrace the talents, time, and treasures You have blessed us with. May we use these gifts not for our own glory but to bring help and hope to those in need, shining the light of Your love in the world. Inspire us to act selflessly, to share generously, and to serve faithfully, so that in all we do, Your name is glorified. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
