Caceres Mission Aid Program celebrates 25 years of sending missionaries

In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Caceres Mission Aid Program or 25 years of sending Caceres diocesan missionary priests outside the Archdiocese of Caceres, a Thanksgiving Mass will be offered on May 27, 2022, 9:00 A.M. in Saint John the Baptist Parish Church, Goa, Camarines Sur. The Presider and Preacher will be the Archbishop of Caceres, Most Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona, O.C.D., D.D..

It was on May 27, 1997, 25 years ago, during a monthly assembly of priests, when Most Rev. Leonardo Legazpi, O.P., D.D., and 79 priests voted to formalize our sending of priests which had started in 1992 and called this the Caceres Mission Aid Program.

During the time of Archbishop Legazpi, the archdiocese sent to Philippine Dioceses of Cabanatuan, Daet, Libmanan, Virac and the Prelature of Batanes, to the Archdiocese of Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Archdiocese of Castries, Saint Lucia, and to the Archdiocese of Kingston and Diocese of Montego Bay; Jamaica Dioceses of Regina, Canada; Hsinchu, Taiwan; Townsville, Australia; Gizo, Solomon Islands.

Today, with Most Rev. Rolando J. Tria Tirona O.C.D., the archdiocese sends missionary priests to the Archdiocese of Castries, Saint Lucia, Archdiocese of Wellington and Diocese of Christchurch in New Zealand; Dioceses of Regina, Canada; Hsinchu, Taiwan; Pagopago, American Samoa;

Dioceses of Green Bay; Greensburg; Ogdensburg; Phoenix; Reno, and Richmond, U.S.A..

The archdiocese sends priests as an expression of gratitude for the gift of faith. This is part of the mission cooperation of the universal church. The diocesan missionary priests help in the evangelization but they are also spiritually nourished through the on-going formation.
