The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Bicol (DSWD-5) on Tuesday, March 22, said seven 100-year-old residents of Camarines Norte were recently awarded P100,000 each by the agency.

"The said program is a way to give respect and recognize the senior citizens who reached the age of 100 and above," DSWD-5 said in a social media post.

The beneficiaries were identified as Marciano Placides of San Lorenzo Ruiz town; Eugenia Maravilla of Sta. Elena; Maura Dominguez and Pantaleona Padua of Daet; Anastacia San Lorenzo of Mercedes; Cerefana Ramos of Vinzons; and Rosela Palma of Paracale.

Personnel of DSWD-5 visited the residences of the elderlies to award the cash incentives and letter of felicitation.

The DSWD program for citizens who have reached a hundred years of age is pursuant to Republic Act 10868, known as the Centenarians Act of 2016, honoring and granting additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians. (PNA)
