CamNorte gov supports DBM chief’s Senate bid

Camarines Norte top provincial, municipal and barangay officials including local political leaders led by Gov. Egay Tallado, in a meeting held recently, jointly and collectively expressed their gratitude to Sec. Wendel Avisado of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for his fast action in the release of funds to local government units (LGUs) intended for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) measures and calamity funds for victims of typhoons in the province.


Tallado, his wife 1st District Rep. Josie Tallado, 2nd District Rep. Marisol Panotes, provincial board members, mayors, vice mayors, and 95 percent the 282 barangay chiefs in the province have assured Avisado that they will solidly support him in case he decides to run as senator in the 2020 elections.


According to Tallado, in his 11 years as governor, it is only under Avisado’s term as DBM secretary that he experienced the prompt action of the Budget department in the release of the one percent of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of LGUs for their calamity funds in the aftermath of Typhoons Quinta, Rolly and Ulysses.


The speedy and timely release of the calamity funds greatly helped LGUs and typhoon victims in the province, Tallado said.


Tallado told local officials who attended the meeting that the people need the like of Avisado as senator because the latter has shown that he gives priority to the needs and welfare of the masses.


“We should support and rally behind Sec. Avisado in the event that he runs for the Senate next year,” he said.

The Camarines Norte provincial board led by acting Vice Governor Concon Panotes unanimously passed a resolution sponsored by Board Member Artemio Serdon, Jr.,expressing the profound gratitude and commendation of the provincial government to the DBM secretary for his genuine concern for LGUs and the people.


Tallado said he and most of the local officials and voters of Camarines Norte are throwing their full support behind Avisado when he runs as senator, because of his extensive knowledge and experience in governance and public service.


Avisado holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at Southern Island College known as (General Baptist Bible College). He is also a cum laude at Ateneo de Davao University with a degree of Bachelor of Laws.


Besides having a long and distinguished career in government service, he is an active member of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. He previously served as National President of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines from 2017 to 2019 and an ex-officio member of the National Executive Board.
