By Connie Calipay

LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Camarines Norte in partnership with the local government unit of Daet town, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), has disbursed P634,800 as cash aid to 184 worker-beneficiaries under its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

Johana Vi Gasga, DOLE-Bicol spokesperson, said in a statement on Wednesday the hired workers were engaged in cleaning roads and public facilities for 10 days.

"During the payout (Aug. 17) the worker-beneficiaries entitled them to receive P345 for daily work performed or equivalent to P3,450 based on the new prevailing minimum wage in the Bicol Region and covered with an accident insurance for one year," Gasga said.

Also part of the package of assistance was personal protective equipment. The beneficiaries, during the project orientation, also acquired basic concepts on occupational safety and health and financial literacy.

Rommel Carrascal, Daet PESO manager, thanked DOLE since it is the 3rd TUPAD project implemented in the town for 2022, now reaching a total cash aid of P1 million benefiting 256 workers.

“We continuously joined, support, and provide assistance to the DOLE programs and services such as TUPAD that will reach the marginalized sectors through wage employment," he said. (PNA)
