CamNorte village chief shot dead

A village chief of Labo town in Camarines Norte was shot and killed at his residence by three unidentified gunmen on Monday (Feb. 15) morning, a police report said.
Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, police regional spokesperson, identified the victim as Geoffrey Castillo, 58, married, of Barangay Macogon.
Police report said that at around 12:30 AM, the victim and his wife were sleeping when the gunmen knocked on the victim’s door pretending as villagers in need of assistance.
When the victim opened the door, one of the attackers who was armed with a handgun, fired several shots and hit the victim in different parts of this body.
The suspects fled immediately after the attack.
The victim died while being rushed to the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital in Daet, town.
Police investigators are still determining the identities of the suspect and the motive behind the killing.
Meanwhile, in Cawayan town in Masbate, a minor and his cousin were waylaid by motorcycle gunmen on Valentine’s Day in Barangay Tuburan at around 7:30 AM.
Noe Conje, 17, died on the spot while his cousin Ana Marie Conje, 23, was wounded during the gun attack.
Police report said the cousins were riding a motorcycle driven by the victim on the way to Barangay Divisoria, when the riding on tandem gunmen pursued and fired at the victims killing the minor and wounding his cousin.
The suspects and their motive for shooting the victims are still unknown.
