Reaffirming its commitment to women empowerment, the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur in partnership with the Women’s League of Camarines Sur, Inc. is one with the nation in honoring and paying tribute to the vital role and contributions of women through the Women’s Month Celebration on March 14, 2025 at the Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili.

The event brought together women from different organizations as well as lady legislators of the province to recognize their invaluable contributions to the society. Along with Governor Luigi and Congressman Lray Villafuerte were Senator Imee Marcos and Senator Pia Cayetano, who joined and graced the event and shared inspiring messages on how important women are across all sectors of the community.

“Ako ay naninindigan na iba ang kalidad ng liderto ng kababaihan–tayo ang liderato para sa kinabukasan. Hindi na uso ang kamay na bakal, ang mga nagsasalita na malaki ang boses, at pinipilit ang lahat ng tao. Hindi na uso ‘yon. Ngayon ang tawag na nila ay consultative leadership. Ang mga babae, tayo lang naman ang matiyagang makipagusap [sa iba’t ibang klase ng tao.] Palagay ko, it’s a clear advantage ng kababaihan,” shared Senator Marcos, highlighting the advantage of women in leading and managing people.

A discussion on women in legislation and politics was also held during the event. Keynote Speaker and the Assistant Prosecutor of CamSur Provincial Prosecution Office Atty. Antonette Beriña-Bance shared the remarkable qualities of a woman and their impact on governance and development. She also highlighted the importance of applying phronetic leadership in their service by utilizing their practical wisdom based on experiences for the common good.

Sixty eight-year-old Nelly Centeno, barangay captain from Libod, Libmanan and one of the attendees during the event, shared, “Naoogma po ako dahil nagkatiripon kaming mga kababaihan ngunyan, dakol po akong nanudan hale sa mga tig-explikar ni Senator Imee Marcos, asin nagkaigwa po akong ideya sa mga bagay-bagay bilang babae. [Nagtutubod po ako] na kun kaya kan mga lalaki, mas kaya kan mga babae an ano man na trabaho.”

Moreover, Governor Luigi also announced the awarding of cash incentives and plaques of recognition to the three-termer lady legislators of the province for their dedication and leadership in their respective communities. A total of 5,000 pesos are given to barangay kagawads, 10,000 pesos for barangay captains, and 20,000 pesos for city and municipal councilors.

The Provincial Government also ensured to address the health and wellbeing of the attendees by providing free healthcare services, free medical and eye checkups, free provision of eyeglasses, free medicines and vitamins, and free haircuts and nail care, among others.

With the theme, “Honoring Women in Leadership: Championing Rights, Equality, and Empowerment in Camarines Sur,” the Provincial Government has always been committed to empowering its women, celebrating their achievements, and fighting for an inclusive community where women’s rights are honored and respected.
