CamSur evacuees back home as flood recedes

By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay

Some 300 families who were forced to leave their homes on New Year’s Eve due to flood brought about by heavy rainfall that inundated and swamped low-lying areas in most parts of Camarines Sur have already returned to their houses after the flood receded.

The evacuees were residents of the towns of Sipocot, Libmanan, Sagñay, Ocampo, Canaman, Buhi and Nabua.

Some of the evacuees stayed in designated evacuation centers while others stayed in private houses to ensure their safety.

While other evacuees were able to return home to celebrate New Year, some from Barangays Haring in Canaman, San Buenaventura in Buhi, San Isidro-Poblacion, San Francisco, and Santiago Young in Nabua are still at the evacuation centers as of Monday, Jan. 4.

Out of 35 towns and 2 cities in the province, flooding was recorded in 21 municipalities and in Iriga City.
