By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay

The Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) conducted the ground breaking ceremony of its operations and pre-deployment center and motor pool building inside the CSPPO compound on April 13 this year.

The buildings will serve as staging or billeting area for quick response teams during disaster response operations and other related activities. It will also be used by rapid deployment personnel during significant occasions and celebrations like the Peñafrancia festivity, Kaogma Festival and other big events that will necessitate the presence of responders.

The said project is part of the CSPPO Camp Development plan and DPWH’s Convergence and Special Support Program on the construction/improvement of various infrastructures in support of National Security.

“This is a long-awaited project that has been recently realized. The pre-deployment facility or operations center will be used as staging area for PNP personnel during big events and where we will house our augmentation force from the regional office. Members of the search and rescue team will also stay there for calamity dispatch during disaster operations,” CSPPO Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU) chief Lt. Col. James S. Ronatay said.

Ronatay also said that the motor pool will be manned by skilled mechanics to ensure that CSPPO’s service vehicles and mobile patrol cars are well-maintained. It will serve as a central service area for all the regional and municipal police stations’ (MPS) service vehicles.

The construction of the two buildings will be undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 5 in coordination with the PRO 5 Regional Engineering Office. The estimated budget for the Operations and pre-deployment facility is P8 million, while the motor pool facility has a budget of P 2 million.

BGen. David K. Peredo represented PNP Bicol Regional Director BGen. Jonnel C. Estomo as guest of honor during the ground breaking ceremony.

Peredo stressed the invaluable support of the provincial government in the realization of the facilities.

CSPPO Provincial Director Col. Bernardo M. Perez thanked the provincial government under the Governor Migz Villafuerte for its continued support to the plans and programs of the PNP, particularly to the Camarines Sur PPO in its campaign against criminality, insurgency, and illegal drugs.
