CamSur records 42 suicide cases in 2020

By Paulo DS. Papa

NAGA CITY --- The Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) here has recorded 42 suicide cases in the province even as it admitted that suicide is hard to control as suicidal acts are usually committed in secret.

For the first month of the year 2021, police authorities have already recorded four deaths from suspected suicide incidents.

Col. Bernardo Perez, CSPPO acting chief, said persons with suicidal tendencies are hard to identify, thus, suicide is difficult to prevent.

“It’s hard to identify. We have no idea if it is because of struggles in love life or financial crisis” he said.

Meanwhile, SSgt. Mayden Priela of the CSPPO Police Strategy Management Unit said the provincial command has formed the advisory council to address the issue.

She said the police authorities have established partnership with the religious sector in promoting mental health among the people.
