CamSur shines at 2024 KALASAG awarding rites

The Province of CamSur is once again conferred the Beyond Compliant award during the 24th Gawad KALASAG National Awarding Ceremony, the highest recognition for excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance for the Local DRRM Councils and Offices. We are also the sole province in the entire Bicol Region to have been bestowed the Best Government Emergency Management and Response Teams Advance Local GEMS.

Congratulations to Gov. Luigi Villafuerte and the CamSur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) members for securing this prestigious accolade that attests to our efforts and dedication in ensuring proactive measures in disaster preparedness and resilience.

We also extend our well-deserved congratulations to the Local Government Units in Camarines Sur who likewise received the Beyond Compliant and Fully Compliant Award!

Meanwhile, Camarines Sur’s pride Michael Dasmariñas captured the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) international featherweight title after a technical knockout win against Eduardo Esquivel in Georgetown, Cayman Islands, on November 2, 2024 (November 3 in Philippine time).

Dasmariñas needed only the first round to finish off Esquivel, and the bout was called off at the 2:15 mark of Round 1. This victory places Dasmariñas firmly on the path towards reclaiming a world title.

“Maraming beses na po akong napanghinaan ng loob pero sabi ko nga po, kung may ultimate goal ka, kailangan mo talagang paghirapan, kailangan mo ng sakripisyo. As long as na may mga taong naniniwala sa kakayahan ko, never po akong ma-give up,” said Dasmariñas, expressing his gratitude to the people who have played important roles in his journey through every fight and victory.
