NAGA City Councilor Melvin Ramon Buenafe assured the public that the city government’s prodding to expeditiously resolve the Roselle Bandojo slay case will not affect the result of the investigation being conducted by the Naga City Police Office and the National Bureau of Investigation.
Last week, Mayor Nelson Legacion in a press briefing announced that a task force will be established to be able to achieve the speedy resolution of the crime.
The task force is composed of personnel from the city government, the National Bureau of Investigation, the Philippine National Police, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and other local and national government agencies which deal on public safety, criminal prosecution and justice.
The mayor chose Buenafe to be the head of the task group as he considered the councilor’s capability to lead the group being a retired police general.
Aside from the task group that the city government is planning to operationalize, the NCPO will be coming up with a similar group also with the same objective. “The plan was already endorsed to the office of Police Brigadier General Westrimundo Obinque, PRO5 head, for his approval,” an inside source at the NCPO said.
Buenafe said the task force shall utilize all resources to solve the case in small amount of time such as the police ability to gather drafts on ground and NBI’s expertise in thorough investigation.
Up to this date, the suspects were still unidentified and remains scot-free. The victim, a 17-year-old lass, was finally laid to rest on August 3. In his speech, Marlon Berba, the victim’s class adviser remains optimistic on the police ability to identify and arrest the suspects.
“Sarong estudyante na may potensyal kudta na. Pinutol lang kan… Dae ta po masabi kun tao pa baya. Dae ko aram kun tano may lugar pa po an mga arog kaini sa ibabaw kan kinaban. Ako po nagtutubod na sa sakit na pig-agihan ni Roselle, dae man po matugot an Mahal na Diyos na masakitan pa siya sa paghalat kan hustisya para sa saiya” he said on microphone, holding back his emotions.
