By Edna Bagadiong

VIRAC, Catanduanes --- Seven towns in the province of Catanduanes have suspended classes, January 17, 2023 due to bad weather and heavy rains brought by a low-pressure area (LPA) and shear line.

The municipalities of Virac, Bato, San Miguel, Panganiban, Baras, Gigmoto and Viga have issued localized suspension of classes at all levels in all private and public schools in their respective areas of jurisdiction due to continuous rain since for about two days already.

Based on the forecast weather conditions of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Bicol Region experiences cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms which may cause possible flooding or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, landslides and flood have been recorded in towns of Bato, San Miguel and Baras.

Classes resumed a day after lifting the suspension. (EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
