CAMARINES NORTE --- The Provincial Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) can now offer more services to persons with disabilities (PWD) in the remote barangays of Camarines Norte, thanks to its new service vehicle.

PDAO Head Rex Bernardo announced that the provincial government had acquired a Suzuki Carry vehicle for the PDAO, which arrived early this month.

To enhance this initiative, the PDAO also procured a portable alloy ramp, which provides greater convenience and ease for individuals using wheelchairs when boarding the vehicle.

As a person with a physical disability and the head of the PDAO, Dr. Bernardo stated that this new service vehicle, equipped with a portable ramp, enables him to deliver services more effectively to PWDs.

Bernardo’s plan involves conducting visits to the Municipal Disability Affairs Office (MDAO) and consultations with PWDs at the grassroots level.

He aims to facilitate information dissemination through face-to-face interactions.

The PDAO will participate in the Ugnayan sa Siguradong Serbisyong Alay Pambarangay (USSAP) program organized by the provincial government, allowing them to provide services directly to PWDs in the barangays.

Participating in the USSAP will help raise awareness of the programs available from both the national and local governments for PWDs.

Bernardo mentioned that they will have the opportunity to join training sessions and other activities both within and outside the province, and they are prepared to offer services to PWDs in case of emergencies.

On January 16, the PDAO personnel, led by Bernardo, conducted a demonstration of a service vehicle’s ramp equipment at the provincial capitol grounds.

This accessibility check showcased the efficiency and practicality of the system, reinforcing the office’s commitment to creating safer, more inclusive, and accessible transportation options for persons with disabilities. (PIA5/Camarines Norte)
