The Cofradia Basketball League wrapped up its second season on August 30, drawing 13 teams from different chapters of the Cofradia de San Jose in a tournament marked by intense competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie.

Season 2 featured two categories—40-and-Above and Open—with seven teams competing in the 40-and-Above division and six teams in the Open category.

Immaculate Conception Parish (ICP-A) emerged as champion in the 40-and-Above category, while the Pasacao Chapter took the title in the Open category. Bro. Jerry Briones was named Most Valuable Player in the 40-and-Above division, while Bro. Wawirs Briosa earned MVP honors in the Open category.

Organizers described the season as competitive and exciting, noting the increased participation from various Cofradia chapters. The league also saw the participation of members of the Philippine National Police and clergy from the Archdiocese of Caceres.

The intense matchups continued through the championship games, drawing support from fellow players, families and other religious groups.

More than a basketball competition, the league served as a venue to strengthen unity, sportsmanship and camaraderie among members of the Cofradia de San Jose.

The tournament was organized by Adonais Love and the Cofradia de San Jose, with the assistance of volunteer members.

Organizers said the basketball league is also part of the preparations and celebration of the fiesta, providing an opportunity to strengthen the bonds and unity among Cofradia members.

Following the success of Season 2, organizers are looking ahead to a bigger Season 3, with plans to accommodate more teams and implement a more organized program.
