Convid Vaccine: A Promise of Hope

It has been reported that worldwide the Convid Vaccine available is three (3) billion and considering that the world population at present is estimated to be eight (8) billion people, there would be a shortage of five (5) billion vaccines. Obviously, the world would be vying and competing in making available to its constituents from the three million vaccines available. No wonder many nations are making advance reservations from available sources in Europe for the purchase of the vaccines. In the case of the Philippines, reports are that existing laws and regulations prohibits advance payments hence, it cannot compete with other nations for the availability of the vaccines for our people. Reports further show that all our country can do is a commitment to purchase approved by the President to make available the needed amount for the purchase of the vaccine. This places our country at a disadvantage. Even if the country is able to purchase the vaccines, the Department of Health will still have to conduct the required tests on the efficacy of the vaccine before it is introduced to the health workers and other front liners and finally the general public. With all these protocols, it is estimated by health officials that our population may be served with the vaccine by the 3rd quarter of 2021. In the meantime, it is important that we observe the health protocols like frequent washing of hands, wearing of face masks and use of face shields and the usual socials distancing when outside of home and in public. As has been said, hope springs eternal in the human heart!
