GARCHITORENA, Camarines Sur --- Police operatives of Garchitorena Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by Acting Chief of Police PCPT Elias A. Sta. Cruz Jr., arrested the town’s top most wanted person during a Manhunt Charlie operation at around 8:00 a.m. on August 19, 2025, in Barangay Tabiguian, Caramoan, Camarines Sur.
The suspect, known by his alias “Moreno,” 37 years old, married, and a resident of Caramoan, is tagged as the No. 1 Most Wanted Person of Garchitorena.
His arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued under Criminal Case No. 25-4330 for violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. The warrant, issued by RTC Branch 63, Calabanga, Camarines Sur, on July 25, 2025, set bail at ₱80,000.
Police said the accused was informed of the cause of his arrest, apprised of his constitutional rights, and placed under the custody of Garchitorena MPS for proper disposition.
Authorities credited the arrest to the concerted efforts of the local police, with active support from the community and the local government unit (LGU) — a collaboration seen as vital in maintaining peace and order in Garchitorena and the province of Camarines Sur as a whole.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle mechanic was shot dead in broad daylight in Barangay Mataoroc, Minalabac, Camarines Sur, on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Police have launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the suspect.
At around 1:10 p.m., a 911 Emergency Hotline operator alerted the Minalabac Municipal Police Station (MPS) about a shooting incident in Zone 1 of the barangay. Responding immediately, duty investigator PMSG Ernesto A. Verdadero Jr. and patrollers from the Fixed Visibility Point, together with personnel from the Minalabac MDRRMO, rushed to the scene.
Initial investigation revealed that at around 12:40 p.m., the victim, identified only as alias “Bornok,” 38 years old, married, and a resident of Minalabac, had just alighted from a rented motorcycle at J and B Motor Shop, where he worked. An unidentified suspect, described as long-haired, wearing a full-face helmet and gray jacket, and riding a Suzuki Gixxer motorcycle, shot the victim multiple times. The victim died instantly from gunshot wounds.
Investigators recovered five empty shells of a caliber .45 firearm from the crime scene. A request was also made for the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) to process the area.
