Cops seize P7-M in illegal drugs, nab 408 wanted persons in July

LEGAZPI CITY --- More than PHP7 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated and 408 wanted persons were arrested in July, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) said Tuesday.

PRO-5 spokesperson Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib said during 144 anti-illegal drug operations, a total of 1.1 kilograms of shabu and 544.92 grams of marijuana were confiscated, which were immediately removed from circulation to prevent the possibility of being used in other criminal activities.

Calubaquib said the PRO-5 continues to conduct information and education campaigns to increase public awareness on the ill effects of illegal drug use and encourage active community participation in curbing its spread.

Meanwhile, during manhunt operations, at least 408 wanted individuals were arrested.

Notably, all 10 regional most wanted persons for the month were apprehended.

The operations also led to the arrest of 27 provincial-level wanted persons, 10 city-level wanted persons, 55 municipal-level wanted persons and 306 other wanted individuals. (PNA)
