Detained Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) leader Nelsy Rodriquez, 60, was ordered released on bail from the Camarines Norte Provincial Jail by Judge Leo L. Intia of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 64 in Labo, Camarines Norte in time for the celebration of the International Human Rights Day on Dec. 10.
Rodriquez, BAYAN Camarines Sur chairperson, was detained for 15 months and four days, after she was arrested by a composite team of more than 20 police and military personnel at Barangay Bagumbayan in Naga City on Sept. 6, 2020 by virtue of a warrant of arrest for murder.

Intia ordered the provisional liberty of Rodriquez due to lack of strong evidence against her.
In a statement after her release, BAYAN Camarines Sur said Rodriguez was deprived of her right to due process as she did not received the subpoena from the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for her to file counter-affidavit on the murder complaint filed against her.
