CSC now accepting nominations for outstanding gov’t workers

LEGAZPI CITY---The Civil Service Commission here is now accepting nominations to this year’s search for outstanding government workers (SOGW) in Bicol region.


The nomination is open to all active government public officials and employees.


The 2023 SOGW covers three award categories, namely, the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award, the Outstanding Public Officials and Employees (Dangal ng Bayan) Award, and the CSC Pagasa Award.


The SOGW is part of the agency’s advocacy of promoting excellence, and recognizing and rewarding civil servants for their outstanding performance, contribution, and achievements, and /other consistent manifestation of exemplary ethical behavior in public service.


Civil Service Commission in the region urged the heads of various government agencies to join in SOGW and nominate the awardees of their programs on rewards, awards, and incentive for service excellence ( Praise) via electronic submission of documentary requirements to the CSC regional or provincial offices not later than March 31, 2023.


The SOGW is backed up by various legal basis such as 1987 Constitution, EO 292 or thee Administrative Code of 1987, EO 508 series of 1992 as amended by EO 77 of 1993 and RA 6713.


Last December, three Bicolanos bagged two of these prestigious CSC national awards for public servants for 2022. Two of the awardees were from the Department of Education regional office and Sorsogon Division Office while the third was from the local government unit of Legazpi City.


The only Bicolano awardee for the 2022 national CSC Pagasa Awards for Bicol under the individual category was Dr. Fulbert Alec Rodriguez Gillegothe, the current Legazpi City Health Office department head.


The two other Bicolano awardees for the 2022 Outstanding Public Officials and Employees or the Dangal ng Bayan Awards were Rowan L. Celestra, principal II of Buenavista Elementary School in Sorsogon City and Antonio L. Morada, librarian at the Department of Education regional office in Legazpi City.


The CSC Pagasa and the Dangal ng Bayan awards are prestigious award program of the Civil Service Commission toofficials and employees of the government who perform with excellence in their functions, duties and responsibilities as public servants. (PIA-5)
