CSCCI to host 30th SOLABC

THE Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CSCCI) and the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur will host this year’s 30th South Luzon Area Business Conference (SOLABC) on Friday, June 25 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and on June 26 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.


The two-day virtual event aims to respond to the region’s most compelling issues in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically centering the discussions on how businesses can navigate towards new strategies, setting goals for recoveries and taking the alternate routes to adapt to the “new normal.”


Organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the confab endeavors to provide a discerning glimpse on the current status of various businesses, the South Luzon economy in particular, with the theme: “Innovative Economy, A better Normal for All.”


Utilizing the online platform, PCCI thru the CSCCI with the support of the Camarines Sur provincial government seek to respond to issues related to food security, climate change and infrastructure, among others.


The event will start with the virtual parade of colors, featuring various chamber presidents, regional governors, and prominent business icons including Philippine Business Conference (PBC) chair Jeffrey Ng, PCCI President Benedicto V. Yujuico, who will be delivering the opening statement, and CSCCI President Maria Soledad Magtuto, among others.


“Convergence is what it takes. Hosting this year’s South Luzon Area Business Conference unites and links businesses and its stakeholders for innovative economy and business resiliency,” Magtuto said in an interview.


Messages will also be delivered by 30th SOLABC chairperson and PCCI Area Vice President for South Luzon Clarine P. Tobias and Camarines Sur Governor Miguel Villafuerte.


Aside from the invited resource persons and speakers who are all adept in their respective fields of endeavors, three cabinet secretaries will also grace the PCCI’s annual event.


Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar will give an update on the status of food security covering South Luzon under the Sessions on Zero Hunger with emphasis on Ensuring Food Security in South Luzon, while Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar will tackle updates on the Road Network, Plans & Programs of DPWH for Region IV-A, IV-B as part of Session 2 dubbed Sustainable Cities and Communities: Adapting to Climate Change.


Department of Transportation (DOTr) Sec. Arthur P. Tugade will give update on sea ports, railways and the Bicol International Airport. Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative Luis Raymond Villafuerte will also discuss legislative bills addressing issues in infrastructure linking CALABARZON and the Bicol Region. CSCCI conference director Hoover Picar said that the event is a timely avenue for entrepreneurs to adapt to the new ways of doing business and go back to their regular rhythm after the pandemic hits the world with its devastating consequence.
