By Paolo Gabriel D. Jamer

A public school teacher from the Camarines Sur National High School (CSNHS) in Naga City was adjudged as Outstanding Educator of the Year and Outstanding Leader of the Year during the 1st Global Golden Researchers and Educators Guild Awards (GGREGA) conducted by the Asia Pacific Association of Educators Training Institute (APAETI) on Nov. 27, 2021 in Metro Manila.

Randy P. Bacares, Ph.D., teaches Grade 9 Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao at the CSNHS. He is on his 8th year as a teacher. The awardee is also a part-time faculty member of the Universidad de Sta. Isabel.

According to Bacares “Leadership is not lordship, it is the power to motivate others by ideas, personality, and inspiration. We are best remembered not by what we teach but how we live.” He added that “a leader and an educator must be matino, mahusay, makatao at may puso.”

Bacares stressed that educators should have soft skills, strong work ethic, positive attitude, good oral and written communication skills especially this difficult time of the pandemic.

In his Facebook post, Bacares said that he dedicates the global recognition to Camarines Sur National High School (CNHS), Universidad de Santa Isabel, and to the School’s Division Office of Naga City.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education (DepEd) in Bicol during its Regional Management Committee meeting on Dec. 6 in Legazpi City also recognized and commended Bacares for his feat as an outstanding educator and leader.

GGREGA is given in support of the DepEd’s goals, programs, and projects to give recognition among educators who exerted efforts in providing opportunities and elevating the potentials of all teachers, researchers, and other professionals and non-professionals.
