DA-Bicol provides nearly P11-M support for Gulayan projects

LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Agriculture in Bicol (DA-5) has provided more than PHP10.9 million to various groups in the region for the Gulayan sa Bayan project under the High Value Crops Development Program.

The assistance in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon aims to strengthen food security, promote healthy and sustainable living, and provide additional livelihoods for communities, the DA said in a news release Wednesday.

Beneficiaries, which include farmers’ cooperatives and associations, Rural Improvement Clubs, 4H Clubs, and senior citizens’ groups, each received an intervention package valued at PHP102,274.62.

The package contains vegetable seeds, plastic mulch, vegetable twine, water hoses, UV plastic, and other agricultural supplies intended to help communities establish sustainable vegetable gardens. (PNA)
