LEGAZPI City --- Over 3,000 agrarian legal cases in Bicol have been resolved from January to August this year, the Department of Agrarian Reform in the region (DAR-5) said last week.

Geri Buensalida, DAR-5 spokesperson, in a message, said this was noted after the recently conducted annual regional assessment of the legal sector.

Based on the report, 3,044 of the 5,582 agrarian legal cases targeted for the third quarter of 2022 have been resolved.

Lawyer Leo Miguel Ramos, officer-in-charge Assistant Regional Director for Administration and Legal Chief of DAR-Bicol, said he hopes to maintain the region's good performance as indicated by the formative evaluation last month.

"We've done well [in implementing the agrarian justice delivery program]. Hopefully, we can keep it up," Ramos said in a statement.

"DAR-Bicol has settled 270 quasi-judicial cases, 41 judicial cases, 430 Agrarian Law Implementation (ALI) cases, and 2,303 cases brought to mediation were successfully resolved," he added.

Ramos thanked the DAR provincial legal chiefs and legal officers for their support and cooperation in achieving their zero-backlog target by the end of the year. (PNA)
