In a circular released last September 7, canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, Bishop Joel Baylon of Legazpi announced the elevation of the Mission Church in Naga, Tiwi into a Quasi-Parish dedicated to St. Carlo Acutis.

Baylon called this milestone “a grace-filled development for our local Church”.

The Naga Mission Church was established on July 1, 2024. Since then, “the faithful have shown spiritual vibrancy and pastoral dynamism, meriting canonical recognition,” he said.

Elevating the Church into a Quasi-Parish is a sign of its growth and maturity, and is “an encouragement for its continued mission”. The prelate also said that dedicating it to St. Carlo Acutis “roots the community in the example of a modern teenager whose holiness was lived amid ordinary life, digital engagement, and a deep love for the Eucharist”.
