LEGAZPI CITY --- The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) recognized on Friday 101 police officers who returned safely after a 20-day deployment to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for the recent May 12 midterm elections.

In a ceremony at Camp Simeon Ola, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said the return of the police officers marked a successful mission and celebration of service, unity, and national solidarity.

The police officers served as special electoral board members and ensured an orderly electoral process.

Their presence on the ground was instrumental in fostering trust, maintaining security, and enabling the people of BARMM to exercise their right to vote in an environment free from fear and violence.

During the ceremony, Dizon awarded the officers with the Medalya ng Kadakilaan for their extraordinary bravery and selfless dedication to duty.

Dizon expressed deep gratitude and admiration for their courage and professionalism.

“You have not only represented PRO-5 but also carried the spirit of the Bicolano people, strong, dependable, and committed to nation-building. Participating in the [May 12 midterm elections] placed you at the forefront of history, actively contributing to the aspiration of enduring peace and self-governance in Mindanao. This is no small feat. We honor you today, not just as law enforcers, but as champions of democracy and peace," he said.

After the ceremony, the officers shared a meal in a traditional boodle fight, symbolizing solidarity, equality, and brotherhood, reminding everyone of the unity that binds the police force as one family, regardless of rank or role. (PNA)
