DOH Catanduanes launches ‘PinasLakas’ vax campaign

VIRAC, Catanduanes --- As part of its continuing campaign to vaccinate majority of the population, the Department of Health (DOH) launched the ‘PinasLakas’ expanded vaccination campaign on August 16, 2022.


In Catanduanes, the program was launched at Catanduanes Convention Center attended by Governor Joseph C. Cua, Vice Governor Peter C. Cua, Dr. Hazel A. Palmes of Provincial Health Office, Dr. Robert John S. Aquino of Department of Health, Virac Mayor Samuel V. Laynes, members of the Provincial Health Board and heads of national agencies and non-government organizations.


In her message, Dr. Palmes bared that the province aims to administer 52,427 booster jabs until October 08, 2022. She encouraged everyone to have booster doses to avoid severe types of COVID.


On the other hand, Gov. Cua said that the province needs continuing cooperation of its stakeholders to fight COVID-19. He also expressed hope that Catanduanes will top the PinasLakas campaign not only in Bicol but outside the National Capital Region.


Meanwhile, to achieve the target, PHO conducted onsite vaccination on various government offices, business establishments and local government units in various towns of Catanduanes. Dr. Aquino is optimistic that the province may get the chance to be the first to end the mask mandate and return to normal activities.


PinasLakas is the Marcos administration’s way of boosting the country’s vaccine programs towards a more health-conscious and safer nation with the aim of increasing thet number of Filipinos who received COVID-19 booster shot. (PIA5/Catanduanes)
