LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5) through its Catanduanes provincial office has extended livelihood assistance to two community-based tourism organizations (CBTOs) in Bato town in Catanduanes province.
In an interview on Monday, Johana Vi Gasga DOLE-5 spokesperson, said their agency continues to strengthen its poverty reduction program by reboosting different industries like tourism and providing post-pandemic recovery livelihood assistance to the affected individuals.
“Last March 9, DOLE Bicol Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita graced the awarding and personally handed over the Kabuhayan check of PHP809,184 to the local government unit of Bato, as DOLE accredited co-partner. Livelihood assistance was given to Bote Eco-Tourist Guides Association and Carorian Wonders Community Guides Association for the DOLE-assisted livelihood projects under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) worth PHP404,592 each,” Gasga said.
She said the assistance given under the “Provision of Motor Boat and Touring Equipment” project will aid the associations in restoring the tourism sector in the said municipality and provide them with additional income and employment opportunities.
DILP is a grant assistance for capacity-building on livelihood for the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers, either for individual or group livelihood projects. (PNA)
