DOLE provides CamNorte with P4 M livelihood aid
For 45-year-old farmer Gilbert de Leon, the provision of livelihood assistance to his family opens up another opportunity to set up a second vulcanizing shop in their community.
This has been realized after the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol has granted some 196 informal sector workers in Labo and Daet, Camarines Norte with P4 million worth of livelihood assistance.
DOLE Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita said that with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on people’s incomes, the creation of a more sustainable livelihood within the community presents a good opportunity in the overall growth of the economy.
“Besides providing them with a source of income through emergency employment and livelihoods, we empower them to participate in a diverse range of livelihood activities. In doing so, these starter kits that were granted to them will flourish and stir up drive to create employment in their community,” she said.
DOLE AID. DOLE Director Ma. Zenaida Campita together with 1st District Representative Josefina B. Tallado, 2nd District Representative Marisol Panotes, Camarines Norte Provincial Governor Edgardo A . Tallado, and DOLE Camarines Norte Provincial Head Engr. Arturo P. Corbe, led the awarding of checks and starter kits to beneficiaries at Agro-Sports Center in Daet, Camarines Norte on July 23.
In Labo town, 100 beneficiaries will soon engage in various enterprise such as vulcanizing, welding services, carpentry, masonry, and other services among others. They received P 2.2 million worth of assistance from DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
In Daet, several barangays benefited from the agency’s livelihood program. Some 96 residents were granted P1.8 million worth of livelihood packages for their chosen business enterprise.
Recipients of Kabuhayan starter kits expressed their gratitude for DOLE’s assistance. They said the livelihood kits will help them a lot amidst the pandemic.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa serbisyo ng DOLE dahil nakatanggap ako ng air compressor, electric tire vulcanizing machine and combination wrench. Malaking tulong ito sa pagbubukas ko ng pangalawang vulcanizing shop,” said De Leon.
