LEGAZPI CITY --- Residents of Pandan, Catanduanes are benefiting from improved transportation and accessibility following the completion of the Hiyop-Pinagtabawan-Baldoc Road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Regional Director Virgilio Eduarte said the completed road connects the barangays of Hiyop, Pinagtabawan, and Baldoc, making it easier for residents to transport goods and access essential services.

“The construction or upgrading of roads stimulates local businesses and boosts the tourism industry, contributing to economic growth and overall progress in rural areas,” Eduarte said in a statement.

The 2.32-km. road was funded under the 2025 General Appropriations Act with a budget of PHP35.28 million.

Barangay Baldoc Councilor Marlon Trinidad said with the completion of the road, the transportation and delivery of various products from their barangay to the market have become much easier.

“Before, the journey was difficult. Without a proper road, products were transported by carabaos. Now, travel has become convenient,” Trinidad said.

Baldoc Barangay Councilor Delcielo Lopez said the road has greatly improved their quality of life in the area.

“People can now enjoy faster transportation. Previously, only carabaos could navigate the unpaved roads, but now, vehicles can easily pass through, making it easier to transport goods to the town,” he said. (PNA)
