Drug suspect slain by police, 2 nabbed

A suspected drug pusher who is classified as a high value target (HVT) was slain in a police anti-drug operation in Barangay Salvacion, Tinambac, Camarines Sur, on Jan. 12 after the suspect allegedly fired at the police operatives who fired back killing him in the process.


Maj. Dino Ben Regaspi, Tinambac police chief, identified the slain suspect as Diosdado Clavillas, 50, of Barangay Binanuaanan, Pili town.


He said Clavillas drew and fired his 9mm FCC pistol, wounding a member of the police team in the chest.


To protect themselves, the police operatives fired back, hitting Clavillas in his stomach. The suspect was rushed to Tinambac Infirmary but he was declared dead on arrival.


Prior to the armed encounter, the police poseur buyer was able to buy from the suspect a medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu worth P22,000.


Police authorities also recovered from the suspect three more plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a glass tube with dried marijuana leaves, another 9mm FCC pistol, a revolver and ammunitions.


On Jan. 13 at around 6:30 AM in Barangay Palong, Libmanan town, Rico Ortega, 30, a habal-habal driver of the same place was arrested for growing a marijuana plant inside his house. The police also served the suspect a arrest warrant issued by Judge Marideth Delos Santos of RTC Branch 51 in Guagua, Pampanga for a crime of rape.


On Monday, Jan. 17, 6:30 AM, Roque Penetrante, a barangay kagawad caught Goldie Cantilang, 26, a dried fish vendor of Barangay Siramag, Balatan, Camarines Sur repacking shabu in a grassy portion of Diversion Road, Barangay San Francisco in Nabua town. Penetrante turned over the shabu to police authorities.
