LEGAZPI CITY --- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) provided financial, food and non-food items to families affected by a tornado incident in Camarines Norte.

In a report Wednesday, DSWD-5 Director Norman Laurio said a total of 103 families in Barangays Bibirao and Magang were affected after their homes and properties sustained damage.
Two deaths were also recorded, a 37-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy, who were struck by a fallen tree and two others sustained minor injuries in the same incident.
Social workers conducted a home visit and provided psychosocial intervention to the grieving families and help them cope with the grief and emotional distress of losing their loved ones.
Each of the two families received PHP25,000 in funeral assistance through a guarantee letter to help them cover the burial costs.
The agency distributed 103 family food packs, 15 hygiene kits, 15 kitchen kits, 41 sleeping kits, and 10 family kits, with a total cost of PHP137,319, providing urgent assistance to the affected families.
Laurio said continuous assessment and monitoring of the situation are done to determine more needs and interventions for the affected families. (PNA)
