By Edna Bagadiong

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a Brand Equity Awareness Seminar (BEAS) on April 22, 2022 at ARDCI Sky Deck in Virac, Catanduanes to help Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) capture bigger markets.

According to DTI Provincial Director Maria Belma Q. Escueta, the activity which is under the Youth Entrepreneurship Program aims to enable the participants to learn about trademark, logo registration, steps, importance and qualifications of brand registration, functions of the Intellectual Property Office, and other related topics.

She said that the event is also part of the National Intellectual Property Month celebration last month.

Engr. Niño Angelo Torre of the Intellectual Property Office served as the resource speaker who also gave one-on-one consultation with the participants. He also gave evaluation on the individual logos as to its registrability, and other areas for improvement clarifying common misconceptions about a logo/brand/trademark.

Meanwhile, eight mentees from Catanduanes attended the regional online launching of Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Money Market Encounter (MME) Batch 1 for 2022. They were: Erlinda Borbe of SIV, Virac (7 Sibs Diner); Mary Antonette Camano of Paraiso, San Miguel (Tawny’s Processed Food Production); Mary Jane T.
