ERB to evaluate Naga’s 3,900 voter applications

By Paulo DS. Papa

THE Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the city is set to conduct a hearing on Monday, March 6, this year, to evaluate and approve the 3,900 new voter applications.

Atty. Maico Julia Jr., head of Comelec-Naga told Bicol Mail that these voter applications were registered during the series of voters registration conducted from December 12, 2022 to January 31, this year. The registration was part of Comelec’s preparation for the conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on October, this year.

He said, these voter applications are, at present, subject for the ERB’s evaluation and approval. “They [voter applications] will be included in the list of the city’s registered voters once approved,” Julia said.

Currently, the city has 119,119 registered voters. Julia said the figure may have decreased already as there are voters who are now dead or have gone to other places and decided to re-register/transfer to other voting precincts outside the city.

Julia said, the decline in the number of registered voters in Naga can also be used as basis of the evaluation.

When asked about the schedule for filing of certificate of candidacy he replied that the Comelec’s national office will issue its calendar of activities soon.

He said the number of officially registered voters in the city will be posted in the city’s 27 barangays along with the dates and places where election bans are to be implemented.
