Ex-radio station manager wins as town councilor

By Paulo DS. Papa

Crisanto Bersabe, former station manager of 106.3 Energy FM in Naga City and popularly known in the airwaves as “DJ Machobibo” won as municipal councilor of Minalabac, Camarines in the May 9 election.

Bersabe got 9,835 votes based on the official election results. Bersabe was a former radio disc jockey and a news and public affairs host before he ran as councilor.

In an interview in “Pagorolayan ta” radio program hosted by this reporter, Bersabe promised to his constituents that he will work for legislations that will address the water supply problem in the town of Minalabac.

He said the people of Minalabac have been suffering from portable water shortage for almost a decade. He lamented that despite the P30 million spent by the local government unit (LGU) for the maintenance of the Minalabac Pumping Station in Barangay Hobo, the LGU-run water system failed to sufficiently supply the potable water needs of the town’s 25 barangays.

Bersabe said that because of the shortage of water, some Minalabac residents did not invite guests during the town fiesta on May 3 due to lack of water.

Aside from the water problem, he also vowed to work for transparency in the affairs of the LGU and ensuring that residents can have access to important matters affecting the town thru the Freedom of Information mechanism.

He said he will be back on-air once he already assume office on July 1.
