Farmer threatened with improvised shotgun

BULA, Camarines Sur --- Police are preparing criminal charges against a 66-year-old farmer who allegedly threatened another farm hand with an improvised firearm during a birthday gathering in Barangay La Victoria, Bula.

According to the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office, the incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. on July 19.

The victim, a 69-year-old farmer identified only as “Pay Ino,” told police that the suspect, alias “Pay Jess,” pointed a locally made firearm or sumpak loaded with one 12-gauge shotgun shell at him.

The victim, assisted by a companion, managed to disarm the suspect before anyone was hurt.

The improvised firearm was later turned over to Barangay Captain Felicitas Olleres, who subsequently surrendered it to the Bula Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Police have requested firearm verification and will submit the confiscated weapon to the Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistic examination.

Authorities said they are preparing charges for Grave Threats in relation to Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, pending the results of the ballistic examination.

The suspect remains at large.

Wanted man falls

In Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, police arrested the No. 1 Municipal Most Wanted Person of Tinambac during a manhunt operation in Barangay Olas, Lagonoy on Monday evening, July 21.

The suspect, identified only by the aliases “Pinipig” and “Botog,” 45, of Lagonoy, was arrested at around 6:50 p.m. by the Tinambac Municipal Police Station (MPS) Tracker Team, led by Police Captain Jefrey A. Escolano, with assistance from personnel of the Lagonoy MPS.

The arrest was carried out by virtue of warrants for violations of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Act, and for rape.

Police said the warrants include:

• Violation of Section 5(A) of RA 9262 with recommended bail of P36,000;

• Violation of Section 5(I) of RA 9262 with recommended bail of P72,000; and

• Rape, a non-bailable offense.

Authorities said the operation was documented using an Alternative Recording Device (ARD).

Following his arrest, the suspect was informed of the charges against him and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood before being brought to the Tinambac MPS for documentation and proper disposition.

Drug suspect nabbed

Meanwhile, in Pamplona, Camarines Sur authorities arrested a high-value drug suspect and seized suspected illegal drugs and ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Veneracion, Pamplona before dawn on July 21.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Lex,” 41, was listed as a High-Value Individual (HVI) under the Regional Recalibrated Priority Target list.

The operation, conducted at around 4:35 a.m., was led by the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the Pamplona Municipal Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Camarines Sur, in coordination with PDEA Regional Office V.

Police said the suspect was informed of the search warrant before officers searched the residence.

Recovered during the operation were:

• Two sachets containing suspected marijuana weighing about two grams with an estimated value of P240;

• Seven sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about two grams with an estimated street value of P13,600;

• One caliber .45 magazine; and

• Twenty-one rounds of caliber .45 ammunition.

Police said the marking and inventory of the seized items were conducted at the scene in the presence of the suspect and required witnesses. Officers also used Body-Worn Cameras during the operation.

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and taken to the Pamplona Municipal Police Station for documentation.

The seized drug evidence will undergo laboratory examination, while charges for violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10591 are being prepared for filing before the Camarines Sur Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
