Fire displaces 12 families in Baao
By Troy Omar Bisenio
Five residential houses were totally razed and one was partially damaged by fire in Barangay San Nicolas, Baao, Camarines Sur on July 15, the Bureau of Fire Protection reported.
The fire incident displaced 12 families affecting a total of 46 individuals, according to the report by the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) of the Baao local government unit (LGU),
BFP investigators said electrical arcing caused the fire, which damaged properties worth P 1 million.
Arcing usually occurs when an electrical circuit becomes overloaded and overheats. The overheating causes damage not only to the circuit breaker but also to its connection. Once damaged, a circuit breaker can malfunction and continue to let electricity flow between its connection instead of tripping.
“Around 4:46 PM, pagdating ng mga kasamahan nating bombero, talagang malakas na ‘yung sunog,” SFO3 Dario L. Panerio said.
The fire last for over an hour. The BFP declared “fire out” at 5:45 PM.
