Goa brakes ground for MICES building

With immense pride and joy, Rep. Elizaldy Co of the Ako Bicol Party-List on Tuesday (July 16, 2024) led the groundbreaking of a new Meeting, Incentives, Conferences For Educations And Sports (MICES) building in Goa, Camarines Sur.

This landmark project promises significant advancements in community health, sports, and local commerce, embodying Ako Bicol’s vision of a brighter future for all Bicolanos,

The new multipurpose building will house a state-of-the-art Primary Health Center, prioritizing the health and wellness of the community. Designed to function as a fully-equipped hospital, the center will include consultation rooms, extraction areas, a chemistry lab, and a pharmacy.

“Health is a top priority for us. Our Primary Health Center will serve as a guardian of wellness for our community, elevating the standard of care and accessibility for all,” Co said.

Going beyond traditional health centers, it will also feature an X-ray room, radiology section, ECG and ultrasound recovery rooms, a minor surgery room, and a dedicated birthing room.

“This expansion ensures that we can provide comprehensive healthcare services right here in our community,” Co added.

Apart from its healthcare facilities, the multipurpose building will serve as a vibrant hub for sports and recreation with the new basketball court for local sports enthusiasts.

“Sports ang isa pang purpose ng ating multipurpose building. Sigurado akong mapupuno ng hiyawan ang ating magiging basketball court (Sports is one of the goals of our multipurpose building. I’m quite sure our would-be basketball court will be filled with cheers),” Co said.

The Bicolano lawmaker also highlighted the extensive community support initiatives of the Ako Bicol Party-List, such as the TUPAD Program where temporary jobs have been provided to residents of various barangays, restoring hope and dignity to countless individuals.

Similarly, educational assistance payouts have benefited hundreds of students across the region.

“Nagbigay naman ng oportunidad sa daan-daang mag-aaral ang ating Educational Assistance Pay-out sa mga barangay ng Camaligan, Abella, Rinconada, at sa unang distrito (Our educational assistance pay-outs has provided opportunities to hundreds of students in barangays Camaligan, Abella, Rinconada, and the first district),” Co added.

Meanwhile, the Tarabangan Caravan has brought vital medical and dental services to remote areas in Buhi and Lago, with doctors, dentists, and nurses in tow.

“Doon, nagkaroon din tayo ng local recruitment services para sa mga naghahanap ng trabaho (There, we also had recruitment services for those looking for jobs),” Co said.

The chairman of the House committee on appropriations emphasized the importance of the government’s Legacy Projects, including the establishment of specialty hospitals, food security initiatives, and housing projects.

The Legacy Specialty Hospitals, currently being constructed in Legazpi, Albay and other parts of the country, are crucial in providing specialized medical services for heart, kidney, lung diseases, and cancer, reducing the need for long-distance travel for medical care.

On the other hand, Legacy Food Security projects ensure sufficient and affordable food for all Filipinos through initiatives such as the NIA contract farming for rice, irrigation and fertigation convergence, farm mechanization, and increased funding for agricultural modernization.

Meantime, the Legacy Housing Projects aim to provide safe and decent housing for Filipinos at an affordable cost of P3,500 per month, significantly lower than the typical P15,000 monthly payments to private condominium developers.

Co expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making these projects a reality.
