Grab driver arrested in Baao drug buy-bust opn

BAAO, Camarines Sur --- A 44-year-old Grab driver was arrested after police seized about 95 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P646,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sta. Teresita, Baao on Tuesday afternoon, August 4.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Jam,” is a resident of Manila. He was apprehended at around 2:37 p.m. after allegedly selling one sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer for P12,500, consisting of one genuine P500 bill used as marked money and P12,000 in boodle money.

Authorities said a body search conducted after the arrest led to the recovery of three plastic bags containing approximately 95 grams of suspected shabu, the marked money, a gray backpack, a driver’s license, and a pink perfume box labeled “Fantastic.”

The operation was jointly carried out by personnel of the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit, together with the Baao Municipal Police Station, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office V.

Police said the inventory and photographing of the seized evidence were conducted at the scene in the presence of the suspect and the required witnesses. The operating team also used body-worn cameras during the operation.

The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights and taken to the Baao Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165).

Camarines Sur Police Arrest No. 1 Municipal, No. 6 Provincial Most Wanted Drug Suspect

In Magarao, Camarines Sur, police arrested the municipality’s No. 1 most wanted person and the province’s No. 6 during a warrant operation in Barangay San Isidro, Magarao on Tuesday evening, August 4.

The suspect, identified only as “Eman,” 27, unemployed and a resident of Magarao, was arrested at around 6:15 p.m. by personnel of the Magarao Municipal Police Station with the assistance of the Camarines Sur Maritime Police Station.

Authorities served a warrant of arrest for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The court recommended P200,000 bail for the charge under Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), while no bail was recommended for the charge under Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs).

Police said the suspect was informed of the nature of his arrest and his constitutional rights before being taken to the Magarao Municipal Police Station for proper disposition. Officers also used two alternative recording devices during the operation in accordance with police operational procedures.
