LEGAZPI CITY --- Police arrested a high-value individual who yielded PHP5.1 million shabu in a buy-bust operation in Camalig, Albay, on Tuesday, a police report said.
Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said the suspect was identified as "Anton", a resident of Polangui, Albay.
"The police operatives confiscated a total of 750 grams of suspected shabu. The operation was conducted by police operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) at Camalig Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)," she said.
The suspect, she said, is now in the custody of the Camalig Municipal Police Station pending the filing of cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
"The successful arrest of 'Anton' and the confiscation of a large number of drugs reaffirms the relentless efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Bicol to suppress the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region," Calubaquib said.
In a statement, PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon commended the dedication of the police personnel that resulted in the successful operation.
He said the determination of the Philippine National Police-Bicol to stop the drug proliferation will not be hindered by weather disturbances.
"Come rain or shine, the operation to combat illegal drugs and protect citizens against its negative effects is non-stop," Dizon added. (PNA)
