Homeowners warned vs akyat-bahay

The Naga City Police Office has issued a warning to homeowners in the city, urging them to enhance their security measures following a series of theft and robbery incidents since October 31st of this year.
One such incident involved a 39-year-old teacher from Barangay San Nicolas, Baao, Camarines Sur, who returned from celebrating undas in her hometown on October 31st, only to find her rented room on Molave St., Barangay Liboton, Naga City, burgled. The perpetrator made away with approximately P100,000. Additionally, cash allocated for her daughter (around P9,000) and some necklaces were stolen. Police investigations revealed that the suspect forcibly broke into the victim’s room by breaking the door lock.
On November 2nd, a 38-year-old call center agent, residing in a structure made of light materials in Zone 6, Barangay San Isidro, Naga City, discovered his house ablaze. Although his laptop worth P19,000 was missing, the police determined it to be an arson combined with a robbery, the culprit remaining unidentified.
A distressing incident occurred on November 5th, as a 27-year-old lawyer was attacked by an armed assailant at San Alfonso Homes, Barangay Pacol, Naga City, while being solicited for money around 11:00 pm. Despite the victim’s resistance, the suspect, armed with a handgun, assaulted her, causing injuries. The perpetrator also stole the victim’s phone before fleeing.
The following day, another robbery was reported at the residence of a retired professor in Zone 6, Barangay Del Rosario, Naga City. The professor discovered a broken window and items totaling P271,000 in value, including jewelry, watches, and assorted perfumes, missing.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon III, spokesperson of the Naga City Police Office, stated that investigations are underway to identify and locate the suspects. He emphasized the importance of vigilance, urging the public not to provide opportunities for individuals with intentions of robbery.
