Hospital marks first year with milestones

THE Naga City General Hospital (NCGH) celebrates today, December 12, its first anniversary, a proof to the city government’s dedication to public health under the visionary leadership of Mayor Nelson Legacion.


City Councilor Sonny Rañola, a medical doctor and chair of the Committee on Health at the Sangguniang Panlungsod, lauded the milestone, emphasizing that NCGH symbolizes the city’s commitment to providing accessible and quality healthcare.


”His [Mayor Legacion’s] tireless efforts have not only brought this hospital to life but also ensured its continuing growth and service to our community,” Rañola said.


Since its inauguration, NCGH has significantly transformed Naga City’s healthcare landscape, offering hope and healing to thousands of Nagueño families.



Key Achievements: In-Patient Care: Accommodates 50–60 patients daily. Surgical services, handles an average of 70 procedures monthly, ranging from appendectomies to thyroidectomies;


Maternal health, ensures the safe delivery of 30–50 babies each month; Out-patient and public health services, caters to 230–250 patients daily in the OPD, and an additional 250–300 cases in its Animal Bite Center.


Dra. Jamela Mangente, assistant head of NCGH, announced that the hospital will soon open its own dialysis center with 12 stations in the coming weeks.


NCGH is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory capabilities, including: A blood station utilizing GEL technology. Tertiary laboratory tests, such as the Thyroid Function Profile, the Gene Xpert Machine for TB diagnosis, Plate-based cartridge testing for COVID-19, TB, RSV, and flu.


NCGH team comprises dedicated specialists, including surgeons, OB-Gynecologists, pediatricians, and internists, supported by PhilHealth-accredited services.


In his message, Mayor Legacion expressed gratitude to the hospital staff, emphasizing their vital role in NCGH’s success. “Our doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, administrative staff, and utility workers are the true pillars of NCGH. Their proficiency, compassion, and dedication to public service make all the difference,” he said.


The mayor challenged the hospital’s workforce to strive for greatness. “Let us commit to continuous improvement and uphold the highest standards of care, ensuring that every patient who walks through our doors feels valued, cared for, and respected,” he urged.


Looking forward, Legacion encouraged NCGH to evolve with the city’s healthcare needs, committing to collaboration and innovation to achieve this vision.


The Naga City General Hospital’s first anniversary is a celebration not only of its achievements but also of the Nagueños collective effort to provide accessible and exceptional healthcare to its people.
