Last August 4, Monday, the Holy Rosary Major Seminary community gathered in prayer, gratitude, and fraternity to celebrate the Feast of St. John Marie Vianney, patron of parish priests, and to honor the priest-formators who guide seminarians in their vocation. The day began with a solemn Lauds at the Vianney Garden, and culminated with a concelebrated Mass at the Good Shepherd Chapel, presided over by Rev. Fr. Andrew Recepcion, Spiritual Director of the Pontificio Collegio Seminario de Nuestra Señora de la Paz y Buen Viaje in Rome. In his homily, Fr. Recepcion emphasized that the heart is the core of priestly formation. “We are not called to impress minds but to form hearts,” he said, reminding the seminarians that, like St. John Vianney, it is not brilliance that makes a holy priest, but a heart committed to saving souls.
